DFKI German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence
Founded in 1988, DFKI today is the largest non-profit contract research institutes in the field of innovative software technology based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) methods. DFKI is focusing on the complete cycle of innovation — from world-class basic research and technology development through leading-edge demonstrators and prototypes to product functions and commercialisation. Based in Kaiserslautern and Saarbrücken, the DFKI ranks among the major centres of excellence worldwide. Research at DFKI uses AI as a key component to provide intelligent and distributed cross-hierarchy and cross-company knowledge networking services to interweave personal knowledge spaces into evolutionary organizational memories. The DFKI is an important partner in a Sino-German High-Tech Olympic Project for the Olympic Games 2008 in Beijing. The goal of the project is to develop a multilingual information services system which anybody at any time and in any place related to the Olympics can enjoy in a secure, convenient, swift and efficient manner.
