Baosteel Group Corp. was established in Shanghai, China in 1978. As one of the leading steelmakers in the world, Baosteel produces a wide range of high quality steel products. In 2005 Baosteel produced 22.7 million tons of steel, boosting its total revenue to EUR 17.6 billion and profit to EUR 2.2 billion.

Baosteel pursues a strategy of producing premium products, and is establishing itself as a R& D base for new process, new technology and new material in Iron & Steel Industry, a production base for automobile sheet, ship-building plate, oil & gas exploration and transportation steel, household appliance steel, electrical steel, boiler & pressure vessel steel, food & beverage packing steel, stainless steel, special steel and high grade construction steel.
Baosteel launched its globalization strategy in 1988, and has been exporting its products to 86 countries and regions, developing a sales network of about 20 trading companies around the world. In 1993, Baosteel set up its European-African headquarter in Hamburg, Germany. Baosteel Trading Europe GmbH has been taking charge of international business for Baosteel in Europe, Africa and Middle East regions, and has grown into a 317 million Euro revenue company by 2005.
