Mercedes-Benz Hamburg

The Mercedes star, the symbol of luxury and quality, shines out in Hamburg over five locations. With a total staff of over 1,000 (taking the DaimlerChrysler production plant Hamburg into consideration the total staff is about 4,000), these locations not only cover the entire Mercedes-Benz product range for cars and utility vehicles but also provide an extensive service program for vehicles of all types. 

The Hamburg success story of Mercedes-Benz goes back over eight decades including many highlights such as the opening of a coating and bodywork center at a site on the Friedrich-Ebert-Damm earlier this year, the opening of a representative new building on Heidenkampsweg with a large showroom and a broad range of services in 2001 and also the opening of the Mercedes Truck Point in Hamburg docks in 1999, heralding an important step toward 24-hour service for commercial vehicle customers. 

Getting our mobile society on the road in comfort and safety is the core competency of Mercedes Benz. Both in our own interests and in the interests of society, this endeavour means that at all times there are some 70 young people undergoing training in the commercial and engineering sectors as an investment not only in the company´s future, but also in the future of the city of Hamburg. Helping society to get ahead in a different sense is among the objectives that indicate the company’s acute sense of responsibility when it comes to social commitment. Mercedes-Benz of Hamburg is not content only to be a reliable “service provider” for its customers. By ways of sponsoring, donations, and also by a special concern for personal commitment it is also dedicated to supporting the work of various associations and institutions. 

This year, for example, Mercedes-Benz Hamburg has followed the initiative of a number of DaimlerChrysler executives in Stuttgart and joined up with 15 other companies to establish the STAR CARE Hamburg e.V. “With this example,” says Gerhard Rötters, director of Mercedes-Benz Hamburg, “we hope to encourage others to help. The net proceeds of these activities, in which personal commitment has a very special status, benefit organizations that provide aid for children in distress and do so in a systematic and un-bureaucratic way.” Finally, sport is another important commitment. The N RV Olympic Team receives funding for the encouragement of up-and-coming competitive sailing teams.
