Nordex Group

Nordex Group was founded 1985 in Demark and is today one of the leading suppliers of megawatt wind turbines. The range of products offered extends right up to one of the largest serial wind turbine currently available in the world (N80/N90/N100 2,500 kW). The company masters the entire technical value chain from designing the complete wind power system and core components (primarily control system and rotor blades) to turnkey installations as well as service and maintenance. In some markets Nordex is also involved in wind farm development.

The company started business in China in 1995. As one of the first manufacturers Nordex set up a joint venture for local assembly of wind turbines, in 1998. Until today, Nordex has erected more than 220 units in China. Among these the first commercial wind farm. At the same time the “Qingdao” wind farm is the first wind farm consisting almost exclusively of megawatt turbines. The latest developments in terms of localisation in China are the opening of a new nacelle assembly in Yingchuan in late 2006. Further, Nordex opened a blade factory in Dongying in January 2007, which produces rotor blades for the turbines manufactured in Yingchuan. Until 2011, Nordex plans to invest € 50 million in China, quadrupling its capacities.
