Founded in 1949 Tchibo is one of Germany’s largest international retail and consumer goods companies with annual revenues exceeding 3.3 billion euros. The company has more than 10,000 employees worldwide. It stands for a unique business system combining top roasted-coffee expertise, coffee enjoyment in the catering sector, and an innovative range of consumer items that changes on a weekly basis, along with services such as mobile phone service, travel and financial services. Tchibo is the world‘s fifth-largest coffee producer and the coffee market leader in Germany, Austria, Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary. To distribute its products, Tchibo uses a unique multi-channel sales system consisting of 54,000 outlets Europe-wide as well as 900 own shops, online distribution and mail order. The company is systematically opening up new markets: In Austria, Tchibo has 160 shops of its own, and more than 30 each in Switzerland and the UK. In autumn Tchibo started its first 3 shops in the Netherlands. For Tchibo China is a very important partner, the company has a buying office in Hongkong with 40 employees. China is the most important country in Asia Tchibo does business with – more than 80 percent of our non-food articles we produce in Asia come from China.
