“Hamburg Summit: China Meets Europe" 2008
The third edition of the ”Hamburg Summit: China meets Europe” took place from September 10 to 12, 2008, at the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce. Again, the conference brought together international decision-makers of the Sino-European relationship. They actively discussed topics of mutual interests. Even and especially in times of difficult political circumstances, the “Hamburg Summit” aimed to provide a platform for dialogue and new personal contacts. Therefore the third “Hamburg Summit” again welcomed international personalities from politics and economy discussing chances and challenges of the Sino-European relations.
Guests of Honour of 2008 were Zhang Dejiang, Deputy Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of China and Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Deputy Chancellor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany, and László Kovács, Commissioner for Taxation and Customs Union of the European Commission.
As former German Helmut Schmidt remarked in his speech, the third edition “marks the beginning of a tradition”. Please download our Documentation Brochure 2008 for further information about the conference and its panel discussions.
