As Chairman & President of CHINT Group, Mr. Nan Cunhui is also member of 11th National People’s Congress (NPC), member of the Standing Committee of All China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), Presidium of CFIE, Vice-Chairman of China Machinery Industry Federation (CMIF), and board member of China Foreign Affairs University. He was awarded “Top Ten Most Outstanding Youth of China”, “World Award of Outstanding Achievements for Yong Entrepreneurs”, “Economic Celebrity of the year 2002” etc, and was listed as one of the“100 Outstanding Youths to Affect 21st Century of China”. Mr. Nan established CHINT Group in 1984, one of the leading industrial groups in China. Its business covers LV/HV electrical equipments, T&D equipments, meter and measuring equipments, wiring accessories, automobile parts, factory automation, photovoltaic battery/modules, and etc. He is also known as a successful and charitable entrepreneur, donating over RMB 100 million to charity.

Mr. Li Dongrong was born in 1954 and holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Central University of Economics and Finance. From 1984 to 1994 he worked at the Shaoguan municipal and Guangdong Provincial branches of the People’s Bank of China (PBoC) and of the State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE), including serving Vice President, Party Secretary and Deputy Bureau Chief, etc. From 1998, he was appointed Vice President of Guangzhou Branch of PBoC and Deputy Director of the Guangzhou branch of SAFE, and was later elected as Deputy Director of the SAFE Central Office in 2002. Since December 2008, Mr. Li has been Assistant Governor of PBoC.

Mr. Guo received from Fudan University a bachelor’s degree in philosophy in 1989 and an MBA degree in 1999. He was the co-founder of Fosun Group, Chairman & President of Fosun Group from 1994 to 2007 and became Chairman & CEO in 2007. He is a Director of Nanjing Steel United and Fosun Pharma and non-Executive Director & Vice Chairman of Sinopharm since 2003. He is a deputy to the 10th & 11th NPC and a member of the 9th CPPCC, and was appointed policy consultant to the Shanghai municipal government from 2001 to 2002. Awards received include: “Outstanding Private Entrepreneur of China”, “Top 10 Leaders in Future Economy of China”, “Top 10 New Private Entrepreneurs 2003”, “CCTV People of Financial Year 2004”, “Outstanding Entrepreneur in Private Sector on Staff Caring” (2005), “Industry & Commerce Category Winner” of “Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year” (2006), etc.

Since September 2006, Haifeng Ling is the Vice President of the European Region of Huawei Technologies, which is a leader in providing next generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world. Mr. Ling received his diploma degree in physics from the Ruhr University in Bochum in 1989. After his graduation he worked for T-Systems in Aachen. In 1996, he joined Siemens in Munich. In 2000, he was appointed as Vice President of the UMTS Business Unit, where he was responsible for the development of the Chinese UMTS technology. From 2005 to 2006, Mr. Ling was Managing Director of ZTE Germany in charge of the business in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Luxembourg. In 2006, he joined Huawei and established the global Business Unit for Deutsche Telekom in Bonn. In 2009, he was appointed to the European Headquarters in Düsseldorf for the business area Public Affairs and to build up the Enterpise Business Unit for Huawei Europe.

Frank Horch was born in Geversdorf, Germany in 1948. He is currently Chairman of Blohm + Voss International GmbH. After having completed his studies in shipbuilding engineering in 1974 Frank Horch worked as development engineer, and later on as Director for development and production at the Phoenix AG. In 1991 he was appointed Chief Representative of the Phoenix AG. In 1993 he joined the Friedrich Krupp AG and became Managing Director of the factory Hamburg-Harburg Krupp Kunststofftechnik. From 1997 to 2001 he was Chairman of the Executive Board at the Krupp Elastomertechnik. From 2001 to 2005 he filled the position of Chairman of the Executive Board at the ThyssenKrupp Elastomertechnik. For the following two years he acted as Chief Executive Officer of the Harburg-Freudenberger Maschinenbau GmbH. Frank Horch holds many honorary posts, among others he has been Chairman of the Board of the Industrieverband Hamburg e.V. (Association of Hamburg Industries) since 2007. In May 2008 he was elected President of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce.

Capt. Wei Jiafu received his Master’s degree from Dalian Maritime University and a Doctoral degree in Marine Architectural Design from Tianjin University. He had been Managing Director of the Sino-Tanzania Joint Shipping Co., President of COSCO Holdings (Singapore) Pte Ltd., Managing Director of Tianjin Ocean Shipping Co., and Managing Director of COSCO Bulk Carrier Co., Ltd. He was appointed President and CEO of COSCO Group in November of 1998. Capt. Wei was elected into the 16th and 17th CPC Central Committee for Discipline Inspection in 2002 and 2007. In Nov. 2007, Capt. Wei was elected the first Chairman of China Association of Trade in Services (CATIS). Other titles of Capt. Wei include: Member of Advisory Board of Bo’ao Forum for Asia, Advisor of Panama Canal Authority, Chairman of China Shipowners’ Mutual Assurance Association, Council member of The Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs and Advisor of Harvard Business School.

Born in Jiangsu province in 1957, Zhang Jianwei graduated from the Foreign Trade English Department of UIBE and obtained an EMBA diploma from ECIBC. Since September 1980, he successively worked in the Financing Department and Overseas Enterprises Management Department of China National Foreign Trade Transportation Corporation (CNFTTC). Since July 1985, he worked as principal staff member of China National Chartering Corporation (CNCC), Assistant President of NPES, Deputy General Manager, General Manager of CNCC, and Assistant President of CNFTTC, holding concurrent position as General Manager of CNCC. In February 1997, he was appointed the Executive Director and Vice President of SINOTRANS. In July 2002, he was concurrently appointed as President of SINOTRANS Limited and later as Director of SINOTRANS, President and Chairman of SINOTRANS AIR.

Ma Kai was born in Shanghai in 1946. He joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 1965. In 1982, Ma Kai graduated from the Department of Political Economics of the People's University in Beijing. Ma has spent his career in Beijing, initially with the Xicheng Planning Commission. In the mid-1980s he was elected Deputy Director of the National Planning Commission. From 1993 to 1995 he served as Vice Minister in charge of the National Commission for Restructuring the Economy, followed by the position as Vice Minister in charge of the National Planning Commission until 1998. Ma Kai has served as Deputy Secretary-General of the State Council from 1998 to 2003. He then was Minister of the National Development and Reform Committee from 2003 to 2008. Ma was a member of the 16th CPC Central Committee and is currently a member of the 17th CPC Central Committee. Since 2008, he is State Councilor as well as Secretary-General of the State Council.

Christoph Keese (1964) is President Public Affairs at Axel Springer AG, Europe’s largest newspaper publisher and a leader in digital media. Mr. Keese is involved in his company’s digital strategy and co-chairs the German publishing industry’s committee on Intellectual Property and Copyright. A passionate journalist himself, Mr. Keese co-founded “Financial Times Deutschland” and was the paper’s editor-in-chief before editing “Welt am Sonntag” and “Welt Online”. Mr. Keese is an economist, graduate of Henri Nannen School / Hamburger Journalistenschule and author of the widely noted books “Rettet den Kapitalismus” (Save Capitalism) (Hoffmann und Campe, 2004) and “Verantwortung jetzt” (Responsibility Now) (C. Bertelsmann, 2006).

After studying economics in Mainz, Glasgow and Hamburg, he successfully attended the Holtzbrinck school of Journalism in Dusseldorf. His next stop was the business weekly “Wirtschaftswoche”. In 1996, he then moved on to “manager magazin”, dealing mainly with economic policy and technology trends. In 1999, the Financial Times Deutschland hired Klusmann. He helped develop the newspaper, which was launched in February 2000. Klusmann then became features editor, in charge of background stories, comments and editorials. He then moved on to become the FTD’s news editor. In July 2003, Steffen Klusmann returned to the “manager magazin” as vice editor-in-chief. In 2004, he joined the Financial Times Deutschland again, this time as editor-in-chief. Since April 2009, he has also been editor-in-chief for „Capital“ magazine. Furthermore, he is speaker of the committee of editors-in-chief of the G+J Wirtschaftsmedien.

As a metallurgist, he was elected Academician of CAE in 1995. Born in 1937 and a graduate of the Beijing Institute of Iron and Steel Engineering, Prof. Xu has lectured in a number of renowned universities in China. He worked as Deputy Chief Engineer & Technical Manager in Scandinavian Lancer Corporation, Sweden. He later served as Vice Chairman of Shanghai Education Commission and Chairman of Shanghai Planning Commission. Then he was elected as Vice Mayor in 1992, Mayor of Shanghai in 1995 and held the position for over six years. He became the President of CAE by election in 2002, and was reelected in June 2006. In 2010, he became the Honorary Chairman of CAE after his completion of two terms of Presidency. He was elected Vice Chairman of the 10th National Committee of CPPCC in 2003 and Chairman of CFIE in November, 2003.

Mr. Xu Lejiang is Chairman of Baosteel Group Corporation, alternate member of the Central Committee of CPC, concurrent posted as standing committee member of China Association for Science and Technology, Executive Director of Chinese Society for Metals, Vice President of China Iron & Steel Association, Vice Chairman of Shanghai Science and Technology Association, and President of Shanghai Society for Metals. He is also member of the 11th and 12th People’s Congress of Shanghai. Mr. Xu joined Baosteel in 1982, gradually appointed Deputy-Director, Director of blooming mill, cold rolling mill, and Assistant to Director of Baoshan Iron & Steel Works; from 1994 to 2006, he was appointed Vice President, President of Baosteel Group, and promoted to Chairman of Baosteel Group Corporation in January 2007. Mr. Xu was born in February 1959. He holds a Master’s degree and also a professorate degree in senior engineering.

Mr. Ding was born in Zhejiang. After completing his Bachelor and Master at Zhejiang Medical University in Hangzhou, he obtained his Medicinae Doctor at University of Arkansas for Medical Science, U.S., in 2000, and worked as Senior Research Associate at Arkansas Cancer Center. He is founder and chairman of Zhejiang Beta Pharma Inc., a leading pharmaceutical company primarily focused on the discovery, development and commercialization of new drugs to treat cancer, cardiovascular diseases and diabetes. Mr. Ding has been publishing over 20 research papers in the area of infections diseases, cancer gene therapy and new drug development. He has successfully developed Icotinib, a new anti-cancer drug. Due to his outstanding achievements he was appointed for the “1.000-Elite-Program” by the Central Coordination Group for Talent Work in 2009.

Christine Loh, a lawyer by training, is the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of the independent, non-profit public policy think tank, Civic Exchange. Prior to this, Loh had a successful career in politics, and before that in business. She is an International Adviser to the G8+5 Climate Change Dialogue, Senior Policy Adviser to the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group. Loh has been widely recognised for her achievements, including as one of the World Economic Forum’s “Global Leaders for Tomorrow” in 1994; recognised by Business Week as one of ‘The Stars of Asia’ in 1998. She was named ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ in 2003, named by Asia Inc as one of Asia’s “Under-50 Movers and Shakers”; named ‘Woman of the Year’ by Hong Kong Business for 2006, and received an OBE in 2007. She was recognised as one of the ‘Heroes of the Environment’ by TIME in October 2007, as well as named as one of fifteen ‘Ethical Leaders of 2007’ by the London-based publication Ethical Corporation.

Peter Löscher has been President and Chief Executive Officer of Siemens AG since July 1, 2007. He has many years of international management and leadership experience in a variety of companies both in and outside Germany – for example, Merck & Co. Inc. (U.S.), General Electric (U.S., UK), Amersham plc. (UK), Aventis Pharma Ltd. (Japan), the Hoechst Group (Germany, Spain, U.S., UK, Japan) and Kienbaum und Partner (Germany). Mr. Löscher studied economics at Vienna University of Economics and Business and at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. A graduate of Harvard University’s Advanced Management Program, he was awarded an honorary doctorate of engineering by Michigan State University in 2007. Peter Löscher is a member of the Supervisory Board of Munich RE, Chairman of the Asia Pacific Committee of the German Economy (APA), Vice Chairman of the European Roundtable of Industrialists (ERT), and Co-Chairman of the EU-Russia Industrialists’ Roundtable (IRT). He also holds positions in a number of social and cultural organizations.

In 2007, Christof Gabriel Maetze took over responsibility for Commerzbank AG’s Global Financial Institutions Department and additional responsibility for integration of Dresdner Bank FI Business. As Global Head and Member of the Executive Management Board, he performs a wide range of tasks including relationship management and business-line responsibilities for Commerzbank’s business with Financial Institutions worldwide. Prior to this assignment, he was Global Head of International Products and International Coverage at Dresdner Bank, Frankfurt am Main. From 1999 to 2003, he was Head of Trade Finance and responsible for Financial Institutions coverage for HypoVereinsbank Munich. During the merger between Bayerische Vereinsbank and Hypo-Bank he was appointed Project Manager in charge of international merger activities. From 1994 to 1997 he spent three years as First General Manager of the newly established regional branch for South East Asia based in Singapore.

Philippe Maystadt’s career has included various key posts within the Belgian Government over a period spanning almost twenty years. He was Minister of Finance for a duration of ten years (1988-1998) and Chairman of the MFC of the International Monetary Fund for five years (1993-1998). Author of numerous studies and publications in the field of economic and financial law, he has also been a Professor at the Faculty of Law of the Catholic University of Louvain. Philippe Maystadt chaired several high-level committees in European and international financial organisations before being appointed as President of the European Investment Bank on January 1, 2000.

Matthias Nass was born July 9, 1952 in Bevensen, Germany. From 1971 to 1974 he studied History, Chinese Studies and Communications at Goettingen University, followed by a Fulbright Scholarship at the University of Hawaii. Back in Germany, he finished his studies in Hamburg. From 1978 to1982 he was Secretary of the German Association for Asian Studies and Editor of the quarterly „Asien“. Having completed the Hamburg School of Journalism, he became member of the Editorial Staff of DIE ZEIT with emphasis on East and Southeast Asia. From 1990 to 1997 he was Deputy Political Editor and Managing Editor of DIE ZEIT. Since 1998 Matthias Nass is Deputy Editor-in-Chief of DIE ZEIT.

Gordon is the Chairman of McKinsey Asia, responsible for McKinsey’s client service in the region. Gordon opened McKinsey’s office in Beijing and led McKinsey’s Greater China practice for many years. In addition, he has led McKinsey’s Strategy and Technology practices in Asia. Gordon has been on McKinsey’s global board of directors since 2003. Gordon has been based in China since 1993 and has been with McKinsey since 1986. Gordon works with leading Asian companies, mainly in North Asia, on large transformational programs combing perspectives from strategy, operations, leadership and technology. Currently he leads McKinsey’s research into the globalization of Asian enterprises and is on the board of the McKinsey Technology Institute, the firm’s think tank on long term technology trends. Gordon is chief editor of the Chinese editions of the McKinsey Quarterly and of McKinsey on Technology. Gordon graduated in electrical engineering from Oxford University and as a Baker Scholar from Harvard Business School.

Mr. Wang Runsheng was born in 1955. He studied at Shanxi University of Finance and Economics and earned a Master Degree from the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Naval Engineering University. In 1978, he joined the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Corporation of the People’s Republic of China (MOFTEC). His postings included the Deputy Director of Department of Finance, Division Director of Department of Finance, Deputy Director of Special Commissioner’s Office of MOFTEC in Guangzhou, Deputy Director General of Department of Accounting and Financing. Later, he joined the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China (MOFCOM), his posting included the Deputy Director General of Department of Finance and Planning, Deputy Director General of Department of Finance and Deputy Director General of Department of Aid to Foreign Countries. Since 2007, he is Deputy Director General of China Foreign Trade Centre and President of China Foreign Trade Center (Group).

Günter Schucher received his Ph.D. in Sinology at the University of Hamburg. For more than two decades he closely follows China’s economic and social development. His research focuses on social issues in the PRC, especially on the urban labour market and social movements, as well as on cross-strait relations. Dr. Schucher published and edited numerous articles and books on China and Asia. He regularly contributes to the Journal of Current Chinese Affairs. Since 2001 he serves as Senior Research Fellow at the GIGA Institute of Asian Studies in Hamburg that he represented as acting director for some years. Since 1991, Dr. Schucher has been secretary and is now treasurer of the German Association of Asian Studies. He is the editor of the refereed journal ASIEN. The German Journal on Contemporary Asia.

Mr. Yao Shenhong, born in Shanghai, studied at the China Foreign Affairs University and Nankai University, and achieved a master degree on international economics. Mr. Yao started to work for the China International Center for Economic and Technical Exchanges (CICETE) from 1986, then transferred to the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic cooperation of China (MOFTEC), and worked for the Bo’ao Asia Forum for three years. Mr. Yao worked at the Ministry of Commerce of China (MOFCOM) as Vice Director of Department of International Trade and Economic Affairs, Vice Director of Department of Information Technology, and held concurrent post of Vice Director of Information Office and spokesman. In 2008 he went back to the China International Center for Economic and Technical Exchanges (CICETE) as Director-General. Mr. Yao has been acting as Executive Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the China Association of Trade in Services (CATIS) since October 2008.

Founder of CAIJING Magazine in 1998, Ms. Hu provided the leadership that brought CAIJING to its eminent position as one of China’s most authoritative business publications. She left CAIJING in 2009 to create the breakthrough new media group, Caixin Media Company Limited. She began her career as an international editor and reporter for Workers’ Daily in 1982. Internationally recognized for her achievements in journalism, Hu was named by Foreign Policy as one of Top 100 Global Thinkers November 2009, received the 2007 Louis Lyons Award for Conscience and Integrity in Journalism from the Nieman Foundation at Harvard University, and was called the most powerful commentator in China by Financial Times, and The Wall Street Journal cited her as one of the “Ten Women to Watch” in Asia in 2006. She was named International Editor of the Year by World Press Review in 2003 and one of BusinessWeek’s “Fifty Stars of Asia” in 2001.

Jan Boje Steffens started his shipping career in 1978 with Hapag-Lloyd, specialising in container logistics, and by 1984 he had responsibility for Hapag-Lloyd’s worldwide container logistics. In 1988, he joined Senator Linie in a similar capacity and in 1996 became a member of the board, being responsible for operations, marketing and sales. In July 2002, Mr. Steffens joined the German shipping company Rickmers-Linie as President & CEO. Under his command, Rickmers-Linie inaugurated the Round-the-World Pearl String Service, the first liner service for breakbulk, heavylifts and project cargoes. In 2005, Mr. Steffens became Managing Partner and CEO of Rickmers Holding. In 2009 was appointed Chairman of the newly-founded “Heavy Lift Club”.

Executive Vice President Ruediger Stroh is General Manager of the Identification Business and of NXP in Germany. Before joining NXP in 2009, Ruediger led LSI’s Storage Peripherals business, overseeing silicon solutions for hard disk and solid state drives. He assumed his position as Executive Vice President at LSI as part of the merger with Agere Systems, where he headed Agere’s Storage Division. Prior to Agere he served as CEO for a number of start-up companies including startups focused on Storage Area Networks and Wireless LAN as well as a nano-materials company. Ruediger began his career at Siemens AG where he held multiple management positions before joining Infineon Technologies and participating in the company’s IPO as Senior Vice President and General Manager of the company’s Network and Computer Storage, Data Communication and Consumer business. Ruediger holds a degree in business administration and engineering from the University of Applied Science in Saarbruecken.

Johannes Thammer is currently Head of Group Sales Strategy and Projects for the Volkswagen Group. Born in Germany on September 4, 1955 he holds a Diploma in mechanical engineering and has a long and successful history in the world of automobiles. Mr Thammer started his career in 1982 as a controller for chassis at AUDI Group before joining the Finance & Marketing Department of BMW, where he worked from 1983 – 1991. AUDI Group wanted him back in 1991 and made him an executive in the division of marketing and distribution, a position he retained until 1999. Thereafter Mr Thammer went on to become vice-president of product and sales planning at Toyota Europe Headquarters. Returning to Audi Group he became Head of Sales Customer Service & Original Parts in 2005, a position he kept until 2008. From 2008 until 2010 he gained a thorough insight of the Chinese market as President of Audi Sales Devision in China. Just this September he became Head of Group Sales Strategy and Projects at Audi’s parent company Volkswagen AG.

James C. Wei is a member of the Executive Board of the Beiersdorf AG and is responsible for region Asia. He was born in Kao-Hsiung, Taiwan, in 1957 and has a B.S.E.E from the National Taiwan University and an MBA from the University of Chicago. In 1984 he started his career at Procter & Gamble, where he spent almost 20 years working among others in Switzerland, the US, Taiwan and finally China. In 2003, he changed to AVON COSMETICS and took over responsibility for the areas “Strategic Planning”, “New Markets” and the Asia-Pacific region. In 2009, James C. Wei joined Beiersdorf AG as responsible board member for the Asian business with China, the Management Units Singapore and Thailand as well the Market Leadership Units Indonesia, Korea and India and is assigned to further develop the business in this strategically important market.

After taking an MA degree (Dipl.-Ing.) in food engineering with majors in the packaging and print industry as well as business administration, Brigitte Wolff began her professional career at a German consulting firm being involved in strategy projects in various branches in Europe, the US, and Asia. Following a takeover of the company by a global US consultancy, she was responsible for project management for global accounts. In 1995, she moved to a position as Marketing Director and Key Account Manager for a global manufacturer of flexible packaging where she was responsible for the Chinese market. In 2000, she established an Internetbased marketing platform for business in China and founded a consulting firm in China, helping clients to do business successfully in China. 2007 her company merged with Management Engineers, an international operating Management Consulting Firm, making her the Managing Director China. Since 2008 she is board member of the German Chamber of Commerce Shanghai.

Mr. Mao Zhenhua has successively done economic research in Hubei Provincial Bureau of Statistics, Hainan Provincial Government Research Center and Research Office of the State Council. He founded China Chengxin Credit Management Co., Ltd. in 1992. As a prolific researcher in macro-economics, capital market and credit rating theory, he published monographs including The Theory of Capitalized Corporate System. He presided over research on Chinese credit Rating methods and mechanism, initiated and engaged in several major symposiums in China and abroad. Graduated from Wuhan University, Mr. Mao received a Ph.D. in Economics and a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). His other titles are Executive Director of CFIE, Director of China Entrepreneurs Forum, Director-General of Dong FuReng Foundation, Director of the Institute of Economic Research of RUC as well as Adjunct Professor of the Graduate School of CASS and Southwestern University of Finance and Economics.

Tang Zilai graduated from Tongji University in urban planning, and received PhD from University of Liverpool. Before his current position, he was planner at Jurong Town Corporation, Singapore. Mr. Tang has a long experience in both academic and professional circles. His research interests include international comparison of urban and regional planning, globalization and urban and regional development, transformation of urban spatial structure and urban policy analysis and evaluation. He has been involved in a variety of professional practices with many awards at national and municipal levels. Since 2007, he has been appointed as Chief Planner of UBPA in charge of concept development, site plan and design control. He also is the member of the executive committee of Chinese Academy of Urban Planning and the Chairperson of the Planning Expert Advisory Board of Shanghai Municipal Government.
