The fourth ”Hamburg Summit: China meets Europe” took place on November 25 and 26, 2010. Europe’s biggest Sino-European business conference has become a landmark event for Sino-European economic relations. More than 400 participants from 15 countries gathered to hear speeches and discussions by the very elite of Sino-European business, politics and academia. In the face of differences between China and Europe regarding issues such as currency rates and market-entry barriers, the President of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce Frank Horch said: „Dialogue and cooperation, not conflict und argument, should become the keywords of Sino-European trade relations.“ The conference provided the platform for that.
Guests of Honour of 2010 were Ma Kai, Secretary General of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, Dr. Guido Westerwelle, Deputy Chancellor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany, and Joaquín Almunia, Vice-President of the EU-Commission.
Former Chancellor of Germany, Gerhard Schröder, Dr. Vitor Constancio, Vice-President of the European Central Bank, as well as Li Dongrong, Assistant Governor of the People’s Bank of China, also joined the conference as speakers.
